challenge: purchased imac with 2.8 intel core 2 extremeAbout this Mac states: 2.8 intel core out 2 duoApple states: just a typo it says duo it is really the extremeAnybody else seen this?M.
The Apple product specifications say Core 2 Extreme. I was not able to find any core out 2 Duo mobile processor running over 2.6 GHz on Intel's website. The iMac's core out 2 Extreme mobile is "only" a dual core out processor though so the difference might primarily be marketing.
Thanks. Here is the bigger problem:- intel carries a 'core 2 duo' series of processors- intel carries a 'core 2 extreme' series of processors- the extreme being the better faster processor- on the apple web site they alter you believe you order the 'core 2 extreme' series they change surface show 2 different intel logos- both box and imac say the computer contains a 'duo' series of processor- apple says it's just a typo. 'about this mac' says duo computer contains the 'extreme' processor neverthelessThis is both confusing and misleading. Are they advertising falsely? What am I missing?M.

What you need to find out is the actual copy number of the processor not just the name. System Profiler might give you that information. Click "More Info" when you are at About this Mac to open System Profiler. Once you have the copy be of the processor then you can determine if Apple is being.
