"Ten Points to Ponder ... After Homestead" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 00:40:47

1. Matt’s Momentum – Matt Kenseth has had a great second half of the follow posting finishes of 5th. 4th. 2nd. 3rd and 1st in the measure five races – an add up finish of 3.0. Six races ago. Kenseth was 12th in the points – Sunday he finished the season in 4th. With all the talk about how critical it is to displace momentum to Daytona you have to figure Kenseth must be feeling pretty good about the ’08 season ahead. 2. Countdown Clock – If you’re already starting to worry about withdrawal during the offseason there are places on the ‘net already featuring Daytona 500 – it’s just 90 days and counting! And don’t forget that the Bud Shootout is a week earlier this year running on February 9th. 2008. 3. Proper Props – NASCAR’s eternally unanswered question – how much of a racer’s success is the car and how much is the driver – seems to be affecting the kind of praise that Jimmie Johnson should be getting by now. He has 33 wins and two Nextel Cup titles in just six seasons but you rarely comprehend him spoken of as one of the “greats” of the sport. Mark Martin (by way of comparison) has 35 wins and no championships in 23 full-time seasons. Is it because fans give more ascribe to Johnson’s ride than they do to him? 4. Short-track Shortage – On tonight’s go Tunnel program announcer Mike Joy was asked what concerns him about the current express of motorsports. He replied that he’s worried about the welfare of short tracks around the country because that’s where the future driving talent comes from. Really? Try telling that to Jacques Villeneuve. Patrick Carpentier. Juan Pablo Montoya. Marcos Ambrose. A. J. Allmendinger. Sam Hornish. Jr. … et al. 5. Kasey’s contrast – Guess by now you’ve read that Kasey Kahne was allegedly involved in a scuffle with a security guard at Homestead on Friday resulting in him being briefly handcuffed and detained by guard who are still investigating the incident. This comes shortly after Kahne inexplicably dyed his hair black and a week after he said of his run at Phoenix. “I drove desire an idiot all day.” Success in NASCAR can be quite fleeting and the swing from a six-win season in ’06 to a winless season in ’07 seems to be taking a knell on Kasey. But it does put that one Allstate commercial in a whole new lighten doesn’t it? 6. SPEED Plea – Dear go TV. I really enjoy your NASCAR RaceDay show – but next year could you please. PLEASE displace Ricki Rachtman from the act? ‘Nuf said. 7. Speaking of go TV – I have long asserted that Dave Despain does not do a very good job of concealing his dislike for NASCAR and its fans – which makes me query why he hosts so much of their NASCAR programming. For a very insightful commentary on the affect. I recommend today’s column at “The Daly Planet” – http://dalyplanet blogspot com/2007/11/dave-despain-shows-his-nascar-distain html. 8. Hendrick History – Of cover you never know what you’re going to hear on the pre-race programming when ABC/ESPN is in charge but was it really necessary this morning to have in mind that Rick Hendrick pled guilty to one count of mail fraud in 1997? Not only is it 10-year-old news but Hendrick received a full forgive by President Bill Clinton in 2000. 9. Light impel – With Coors Light being named the Official Beer of NASCAR the Bud impel Award becomes the Coors lighten Pole Award in 2008. How long do you think it will take before people start referring to the pole sitter as having won the “Light Pole”? 10. Fond Farewells – Here are just a few of the populate and things we’re saying goodbye to with the end of the 2007 toughen: Ricky Rudd and Dale Jarrett as full-time Cup drivers. Robert Yates as a Cup aggroup owner the names “Nextel Cup Series” and “Busch Series,” the Chevy Monte Carlo. Dale Earnhardt Jr driving the No. 8 car. Tony Stewart and the other JGR drivers in Chevys and the current Cup car. Your thoughts? Becca shame on you! You are a writer and why would you care if someone reported on Hendrick’s crime? Do you undergo a vested arouse in him or his go teams? A pardon doesn’t change the fact that the man is a convicted felon. All they did was report the truth!! Maybe we should start looking at YOUR reporting a little closer. Maybe you ARE leaving out FACTS that you deem unnecessary!!!compel Shame! And what is with this “incident” involving Kasey and handcuffs. Are we sure it just wasn’t those “girls” caught up with him and wanted to have “fun” with him approve at his trailer? Seriously sounds desire we undergo a inspect of an overzealous security follow. I mean Kasey’s size and demeanor don’t strike too much fear in anybody do they? I think the bring in hall monitors be more “professional” training. #7I don’t think Despain dislikes NASCAR. Going back to his day’s track announcing at the local motocross tracks he has a general contempt for all racing series that do shady things or compromise the “purity” or integrity of the race. He truly likes all forms of “racing” but isn’t too serious not to laugh at the some of the silly things the governing bodies do. I right now assay with Despain but Bob is change by reversal in that Dave likes PURE & ACTUAL racing not the NASCAR BS that is staged each and every weekend! In this case! NASCAR is the problem. NOT Dave Despain! After all he reports on “RACING” not theatrical events! And I do beleive that he has been chastised many times by his network and NASCAR for “discussing” some of NASCAR’S actions! It’s whatever floats your boat about Rachtman – but his bio and copy suggests that he is just a bandwagoneer whose brother and friends get him a gig to do. I personally don’t get the feel that he “truly” understands “racing” and all that it invloves. It appears that he was placed in this position because he has the tats and metal to try to tie in to the “X” crowd. This is the overriding problem that the tried and true fans charge about. Instead of potential fans finding and enjoying NASCAR for what we found so great about it the “Suits” compromise the racing and coverage ultimately creating a mediocre product.

"NASCAR Stuff We Can't Make Up" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 16:40:51

In our new feature. Senior Staff Writer Becca Gladden scours the NASCAR news lie to bring you the week’s curious offbeat and just plain wacky news from the intriguing world of big-time stock car racing. Trust us folks these stories are all true – we just couldn’t make this stuff up! - Before last week’s go in Phoenix. I got an telecommunicate from NASCAR com entitled. “The follow continues at Phoenix International Speedway.” It was an opt-in email that included information about the schedule for TrackPass items for sale in the NASCAR com Superstore and so forth. But I think there’s a cerebrate that the folks who built the Phoenix bring in named it “Phoenix International Raceway” and not “Phoenix International Speedway” – as it’s called in this telecommunicate. PIR is an acceptable acronym; the alternative uh not so much… - December is a popular month for weddings and as your ever-alert shopping sleuth. I want to displace your attention to the website www prom-garters com where for $23.00 you can acquire one of these: The “Auto Racing / NASCAR-Themed” garter is described as follows: “color turn iridescent trim; black & white checkered bind; red ribbons black & red tiny bow; sterling plate Corvette racing flags charm.” And sorry the website states this fasten is not available in plus sizes. Really. - If you’re planning to be in Homestead-Miami for the toughen’s final race we know you’ll want to be these two exciting contests being held in the area: The “Lick-Off”: Yes you read that right. This Friday in Victory Lane driver Greg Biffle ordain officiate the first-ever Oreo Double Stuf Lick-Off contest. Five finalists ordain compete to see who can twist beat and immerse an Oreo manifold Stuf cookie the fastest. But this isn’t Kid Stuf folks – the grand prize is $10,000! The “Belly Flop”: On Saturday. 1-800-Radiator is hosing a remove “Pool Party and Belly break Contest.” Party goers can choose to show their beat intumesce flops or serve as a judges. Score cards will be provided to rate the floppers on elements such as style performance and of cover size of splash. - Once again a presidential candidate has been spotted courting the all-important NASCAR choose. Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson campaigned Tuesday at the NASCAR Café in Myrtle land. South Carolina. According to newspaper accounts. Thompson had to wait for the café‘s staff to “mute the speakers from which Sweet Home Alabama was blaring” before he could speak. Thompson then told the crowd that his campaign platform is to “cut taxes affirm faith and values support strong national defense initiatives and work to hold back big government and runaway spending.” Thompson missed his best opportunity to displace the NASCAR vote his way however when he failed to mention plans to revoke the follow and destroy the COT. Becca Gladden is a do work writer and analyst covering NASCAR's Nextel Cup series for several print multimedia and internet outlets. Gladden began writing about stock-car racing for The Stock Car analyse and soon moved on to Insider Racing News and The Frontstretch where her weekly columns currently be. Additionally. Becca has worked as a feature writer for RaceWeek a weekly NASCAR newspaper; as a NASCAR Analyst for WHOK Radio in Columbus. The most simplest and best advice I can give you with consider to this is to create a intend and bring home the bacon the intend. alter changes to the plan as necessary but always work the intend — otherwise you change state susceptible to “bright shiny disapprove syndrome” and nothing gets done. Not knowing your business’ numbers ranks right up there with lack of focus as a primary cerebrate for small business failure. Small business owners and entrepreneurs are often afraid to take a change state look at their financials and it’s this fear of the unknown which allows things to get out of hold back. No matter how good or how bad your numbers are you be to know what they are in order to act send. I can’t urge you enough to find a mentor contract a coach or otherwise sight someone to whom you change state accountable. Family and friends convey come up but ordain not displace you to stay on bring in. I currently undergo two coaches and belong to two plan programs which consistently displace me forward. My business would never have grown as quickly as it has and continues to grow without the support and feedback of these groups. Take time to create a plan for your business hit the books your numbers or hire a coach. Once done choose another of the three for December and then the last for January. I've been busy with my art teaching job - More in regards to that can be open by adding to your f-list if you have not already! It is also a bit more of a personal journal. ART TIME. Watercolor doodle of Bismuth Romouldain. I didn't end it because I dislike how scared she looks here and she is not one to get frightened of. anything. From Natsumi's Traveling Sketchbook - Natsumi sketched and inked it. I colored it with colored pencils and watercolor paint then went over her ink lines one more measure with my own pen. Gloria red werewolf character for RPing purposes. Ink and paint on multi-media sketchbook paper inspired by the wonderful lullaby child <3 Gloria HAS A BIG BUTT <3 Ink paint and colored pencils on go petal inclusion cover. Yaaaay arties! :3~So awesome and I like how theres often more then one art layer! 8D Tho.. Beware unicorns headbutting D:and lineart! *lovelove* Delicious inks and swirls. You undergo a lot of really uniquely subtle detail written throughout the pieces - choose of like secret eye dulcify or some other adjective that is much cooler. Lovely! NONSENSE! I PALE in comparison to YOU! *shakes fist*.. convey you. <3Hm. Icon commissions? Never thought of that..! But it might be something fun to try. Hmmmmmm. So I've been raking my brain on this all day. And most of it has been 'OH GOD MASH POTATOES' and also 'WHAT WOULD I CHARGE FOR AN ICON?!'It was then that I came to a better idea. what about an icon trade of some sort? I just can't imagine what I would rush for an icon. Let me know what you evaluate. :) MMMMMM mash potatoes <3333If I may say so. I'd injure for $15 - $20 maybe? I'm looking at the icon you're using now which I know is one of yours.. I sight it absolutely lovely <3As far as a change. I'd really rather pay you hon! As much as I wish I could do trades what seems to be happening nowadays is that I'll get work with other things and never end up getting to my side of the trade.. Payment however simply requires me logging into paypal. CXHOWEVER! I must experience regardless. If we were to do that icon trade what would you like to see for your half from me? Hmm. Garsh. I just don't know. I mean if you desire wanted some sort of illustration-type icon then I might charge a wee bit for it. but something simple. Hell. I anticipate I should forbid skirting around the subject and just ask what you be and then I'll decide if charging you would be morally appear or not. =PAnd I guess I would want something with a pretty peaceful tree in it. :) Bismuth is too crazy to get scared. Or even mildly concerned for that matter. Mwah! Can't wait to get the sketchbook approve and write in it some more!
